Canoe Slalom GB Past Medal Performance
The Great Britain Canoe Slalom Team has had a great record in the sport since it’s inception in 1949. Paul Farrant became Britain’s first Canoe Slalom World Champion in 1959 and since then British athletes have won the Individual World Title on ten further occasions. Richard Fox dominated the sport in the 1980’s winning five individual World titles and five Team World Titles.
Canoe Slalom made its debut at the Olympic Games in 1972 but did not become a permanent fixture until 1992 in Barcelona. Gareth Marriott won the first ever British Canoeing medal with a silver in the Canadian Singles Class.
