How to Progress in Canoe Slalom
Welcome to the GB Canoeing ‘Pathways to Performance’ resource.
Over the coming months, this tab will be developed to provide coaches, athletes and parents with as much information about how to progress in Canoe Slalom as possible. The concept of a web based resource which is free to access enables us to keep updating information as required and assist in developing the performers of the future and the sport of Canoe Slalom as a whole.
Over the past 18 months, GB Canoeing and Home Nation staff led by Richard Lee have been developing a new Canoe Slalom Coaching handbook to replace the one written by Alan Edge and Brian Fuller back in 1995.
Canoe Slalom has moved on hugely over the last 15 years and continues to evolve all the time which is why we have chosen to set up this web based resource.
Interested in becoming a UKCC coach or getting your club coaches more qualified in Canoe Slalom? contact Russel.smith@canoe-england.org.uk or click on this document that explains more detail.
The work achieved by these coaches mainly in their own spare time is fantastic and Richard and his team of contributors are to be commended. The chapters are written and the final assembly is underway and shortly this will be available here to download.
To whet your appetite, see an extract from the Canoe Slalom Handbook which shows the different chapters available here soon.
In the short term, we plan to publish the handbook as it stands, it is a working document ever evolving but essential to get out there to support delivery by many volunteers, clubs, parents and paddlers to impart the combined knowledge and collective experience of some of the best coaches in the World.
The longer term aspiration of the site is to further expand and encourage contributions from all to make this the place to visit in the UK to access technical resources and information on Canoe Slalom.
The Canoe Slalom Technique website is also a useful resource.
Canoe Slalom is such an exciting dynamic sport and is ever evolving, this site is aimed to be a focal point to share knowledge and information. It may well become password protected with a need to register to access the information but please be assured that it will remain free as we want this information to be readily accessible to anyone wanting to further their knowledge of coaching, supporting or participating in Canoe Slalom.
