This week (16 January) the GB Canoe Sprint Women’s 2012 squad headed out to Durban in South Africa for their first training camp of the year, to benefit from the warmer climate. 

Congratulations to GB Canoeing coaches Nick Smith (Slalom) and Ian Wynne (Sprint), who were amongst 12 coaches from different sports to successfully complete UK Sport’s inaugural Elite Coaching Apprenticeship Programme.

With the final season before the Olympic Games now underway, we caught up with Olympic silver medallist David Florence, one of Great Britain’s top canoe slalom athletes, following a training session at Lee Valley, to find out about his hope and aspirations for London 2012.

With just 200 days to go to the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it is full steam ahead for Great Britain’s Canoeists in both Olympic disciplines of Slalom and Sprint.

The British Olympic Association (BOA) has today announced the list of recipients of the 2011 Olympic Athlete of the Year trophy.
