Andrew Martin Settles in at the Youth Olympics

Andrew Martin is due to compete in the Men’s Canoe Slalom event at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. The games is already on day four and Andrew has been getting settled into life in the Olympic village and making his final preparations.

Andrew has commented on how he is finding the experience so far:

“I am now adjusting to the sheer size of the event with over 200 participating countries and the size of the Olympic Village. The training is going good. The other countries have all sent their best athletes so racing is going to be top class. The only thing that has affected training is the odd tropical storm. When it rains it’s heavy and warm with lots of lightening! Being in the village is great there are so many athletes from around the world. Today I met Tony Estanguet C1 world champion. I also saw the medals in the Gallery in the village along with all the Olympic torches”.

The Men’s K1 Canoe Slalom event starts on Tuesday 24th August at the Marina Reservoir.
